Sporosonic Fish
Hybrid Fragment System .3
I have always wondered—before rain becomes rain, what form does it take?
Sporosonic Fish is a sub-module of my long-term project Hybrid Fragment System. The “Sporosonic Fish” takes inspiration from a Taiwanese legend about a mysterious creature known as the “Sonic Fish,” said to emit musical sounds though its body was never seen. In my work, I created a hybrid entity that wavers between biology and myth: the Sporosonic Fish. It exhales rain spores that blend with the body-memory of portside cities. Through pseudo-ecological and archival-fictive narratives, it weaves a structure of storytelling and species-language that arises from “the rain not yet formed.”
