〈撿漿者〉是我長期創作計劃《混種殘片系統》中的一個子模組。我在花蓮駐地期間,在攀爬這塊土地時,偶爾能感受到撿漿者的聲音。火山岩、珊瑚礁、台灣海棗的根系與寄生痕跡,還有浪潮帶撿石人的手勢,彼此堆疊、流動,都像在慢慢告訴我一些事情。 

而這個名字,靈感最初來自我對台灣東部原住民族記憶的觀察與身體接觸。在海岸邊緣的阿美族部落,一位長者說:「不能被移動的石頭是活著的,因為它還黏在地球上。」這句話像某種閃爍的語言碎片,在駐地期間,一直黏附在我的語言後面。也許,記憶從不抽象,它總是緊貼某些活物而存。 

 這是一則融合地方文化、神話與記憶再種植的故事。

The Sap-Gatherer is a submodule within my ongoing project, Hybrid Fragment System. During my residency in Hualien, as I traversed and scaled the terrain, I would, at times, catch murmurs of the Sap-Gatherer’s presence. Volcanic rock, coral reefs, the root systems and parasitic scars of the Taiwanese sago palm, and the wave-worn gestures of stone gatherers—layered, drifting, interwoven—seemed to be telling me something, slowly.

The name first emerged from embodied encounters and close observation of Indigenous memory along Taiwan’s eastern coast. In an Amis coastal village, an elder once told me, “A stone that cannot be moved is alive—because it is still stuck to the earth.” That sentence, like a flickering shard of language, adhered itself to my thoughts throughout the residency. Perhaps memory is never truly abstract; it always clings to something still living.

This is a story of re-rooting—of culture, mythology, and memory.
