I am Jhouyu, I have a dual background in Tai Chi performance and art history. Years of physical training, combined with research into images and historical archives, have enabled me to use my body as an interface for fieldwork. From this, I developed a methodology I call "Poetic Fieldwork." Through sensory recording, site writing, and nonlinear narrative, I weave together bodily memory, mythological narrative, and field observation. I delve into the historical and ecological fissures of each residency site.
My work always draws materials from environments, species, myths, and historical wounds, incubating hybrid beings that defy existing orders. It is both a contemporary mythology and a sustained questioning of who holds the power to name, and who is allowed to be remembered.
